    Bechannel – Provinsi Lampung berada tepat di ujung Pulau Sumatera yang berbatasan langsung dengan Selat Sunda. Provinsi Lampung memiliki luas wilayah 35.376,50 km² yang terbagi dalam 13 kabupaten dan 2 kota. Ibu Kota Provinsi Lampung yakni Bandar Lampung.

    Asal-usul Nama Lampung

    Lampung berasal dari bahasa batak “Lappung” yang memiliki arti Besar. Sebutan ini memilik kaitan dengan cerita meletusnya Gunung Merapi yang berada di Pulau Andalas bagian Utara yang saat ini telah menjadi Danau Toba.

    Ketika gunung merapi meletus, terdapat salah satu warga yang terdampar di Pantai Krui. Ia tersadar ketika melihat daratan, kemudian langsung mendaki Gunung Pesagi sambil berteriak kata “Lappung, lappung.” sebab itulah nama dari Provinsi Lampung berasal.

    Versi lainya menurut Sejarawan asal Belanda, Prof. Dr. Krom mengatakan bahwa Lampung berasal dari Kata “Lampohwang” dalam bahasa cina. Jelasnya, ketika abad ke-4 Masehi, Kerajaan Tulangbawang di Lampung memiliki hubungan perdagangan dengan Kerajaan China, di Kota Kwancou.
